Jalen Rose parents: Meet Jimmy Walker, Jeanne Rose
Jalen was born to Jimmy Walker and Jeanne Rose.
Jimmy Walker, Rose’s biological father, was selected first overall in the NBA Draft and started in the backcourt with Jerry West in the 1972 NBA All-Star Game.
Rose never met his father, though they finally chatted on the phone numerous times. Lung cancer claimed Walker’s life in July 2007.
His father’s name, James, and his uncle’s name, Leonard, were combined by Rose’s mother, Jeanne, to create his name. Jalen became one of the most well-liked names for African-American boys born in the 1990s and early 2000s as a result of Rose’s popularity in the NCAA and NBA. Jalen Hurts, Jalen Mayfield, Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs, and Jaylen Waddle are some well-known American players who debuted in the 2010s and have the name.
