Lady Lysa Arryn was born into House Tully and is the sister of Catelyn and Edmure Tully as well as the granddaughter of Hoster Tully, Lord Paramount of the Trident. She joined House Arryn after becoming married to Jon Arryn. She murdered Jon in secret for Petyr Baelish, her true lover and later second husband, and assumed control of the Vale as the Lady Regent on behalf of her little son Robin Arryn. She loved her son and remained an isolationist during the War of the Five Kings, despite having a blood tie to House Tully.

Following the victory of the rebels in the battle, Jon was selected to act as Robert Baratheon’s Hand. During Robert’s Rebellion, Lysa and Jon Arryn were married. Lord Jon was the head of House Arryn and a significant figure in the uprising against the Mad King. Because Lord Eddard Stark was married to Catelyn, Jon was still an old man, and Lysa was still a young child, the rebels and House Tully were related through marriage.

Jon did a lot of good for the realm while he was the King’s Hand. She has an unshakeable love for Robin Arryn, the only child Lysa and Jon ever had. For the following 17 years, Lysa and Jon remained in King’s Landing and didn’t return to the Eyrie in the Vale of Arryn.
